Roofing takeoff software, free in your browser
Measure roof plane areas and edge lengths, count penetrations, and roll up quantities for your roofing bid, all on any PDF plan set in the browser. TRACEBUILD does real roofing takeoff on your own device, with nothing to install.
Free while TRACEBUILD Lite is in early access. No download, no credit card.
What you can take off
- Roof plane areas in square feet, section by section.
- Eaves, rakes, ridges, hips, and valleys in linear feet.
- Drip edge, gutter, and flashing lengths traced to scale.
- Penetrations counted, including vents, curbs, drains, and skylights.
- True sloped area, by setting a roof pitch on each plane so the area computes automatically.
- Quantities exported to CSV and Excel, ready for your estimate.
How roofing takeoff works
- Open your roof plans. Drag the roof and framing sheets into the browser. Nothing uploads, nothing installs.
- Set the scale. Click a known dimension and type its length, or pick a standard scale. Every measurement then reads in real feet.
- Measure and count. Trace each roof plane area and the eaves, ridges, and valleys, count penetrations, and set a roof pitch on each plane so its area reads as true sloped area.
- Export. Send areas and edge lengths to Excel or CSV, then add your waste factor for the bid.
Built for roofing estimating
Areas and edges together
Measure roof plane square footage and eave, ridge, hip, and valley linear feet in one place, with running subtotals.
True sloped area
Set a roof pitch like 6:12 on a roof-plane area, and TRACEBUILD computes the true sloped area from the plan area for you.
Works on any PDF
Vector or scanned roof sheets, with text search and OCR to find roof notes and details across the set.
Estimate-ready export
Clean CSV and Excel output that drops straight into the way you already bid roofing.
Common questions
Can I take off roof area?
Yes. Measure each roof plane area to scale. Plans show the flat (horizontal) area, so set a roof pitch on the plane and TRACEBUILD computes the true sloped roof area automatically.
Does it handle roof slope and pitch?
Yes. Set a roof pitch (rise over run, like 6:12) on a roof-plane area, and TRACEBUILD computes the true sloped area from the plan area automatically. There is no separate sloped-distance tool; the pitch is applied to the area.
Can I count roof penetrations and measure edges?
Yes. Count vents, curbs, drains, and skylights, and measure eaves, rakes, ridges, hips, valleys, and drip edge as linear lengths to scale.
Is TRACEBUILD really free for roofing takeoff?
TRACEBUILD Lite runs free in the browser during early access, with markup, measurement, and takeoff included. A Windows app, Pro, adds pricing and on-device AI and is coming soon.
